What is Aqualyx?
Aqualyx is an injectable lipolysis and body contouring treatment that is made up of a modified compound of cholanic acid. It was developed to treat localised pockets of fat on the back, chin, stomach, underneath the buttocks, hips, thighs and knees. It can also be used to treat pseudo-gynaecomastia in men. It works by being injected into the desired treatment area and altering the tension of the surface of the fat cell membrane and also increases the permeability of the membrane. Following the injection, an ultrasound device is then applied over the surface area of the skin which causes the liquids to move inside and outside of the fat cells. These cells enlarge and break up and then drain out of the body via the lymphatic system and are excreted.
